Well, a couple of midterms and lab report and incessant wow playing later, here I am. The semester is almost over amazingly. Wow is horrible, so much honor needed. Good thing I’m just botting the mofo out of it.
My laptop has died. It refuses to respond to my touch. It served me for a good 4 years, but I think too much Wow killed it… it’s like, not responding to any stimulus. The power cord works and everything but the thing isn’t charging and the attached usb fan / mouse don’t wake it up. Sigh. I wonder what exactly it is that’s dead. I need to figure out because there’s actually some stuff on there I might want to extract off of the hard drive..
GRE. Need to study.
I’m getting owned by this 114 problem set. Screw this problem set.
My blood pressure is too high. Especially after I play basketball. Blargh.
So I’m trying to move around some files to create more space on my laptop while also getting rid of some misc things from my external drive. Through all of this I’ve come to realize that having a super fast data transfer method would be ideal. It’s pretty tiring to shuffle 14 gb of files over USB, and have to wait like 14 minutes to do so.
In other news I took a chem gre yesterday and got a 750. That’s… 30 questions wrong, and -40 if you count the guesses (I made sure to guess on everything I didn’t know). If I only get -20 pts, I would be getting a 900 which is 90th percentile ish, so that would be my goal with only 1.5 weeks to go. Time to get cracking. To be honest, if I study some electrochem, acid base mathematics, review some basic ochem concepts, I should be able to do well.
I made my desk extension today! It probably took like 25 minutes total. Like 5 min of sawing, possibly less. 5 min of measuring things out, and 5 mins of gluing, then waiting for glue to set, then 10 min of screwing the legs in. All in all it was a good experience. I think I kind of like doing such things. I will have to come up with something more awesome to do in the future. The table itself is decent, my cutting wasn’t perfectly straight so the legs aren’t perfect, and given my simple design the legs are slightly wobbly. I know what I would do to overcome it, but I’m too lazy, and I didn’t want to reshape any wood. Yay me.
So I’m just waiting for my files to transfer so I can start a defrag…
So the goal is to take a bunch of GRE tests during the break… and … I don’t know. I don’t know if it was wise to decide to take the test. Whatever. I won’t suck too hard hopefully.

I was walking back from lab today and I saw this girl just stop, and like… pull a couple of these yellow flowers from this patch of plants in front of a frat, and … she ate them? She just stuck them in her mouth and started chewing. And I was like… ok… time to.. .keep walking…
I suck at poker, I hit $300, then I just dropped. Like a stone. I couldn’t win anything. Then I started tilting and making bad decisions. And now I’m at like, 95 or 100 or something.. back to where I was at before I decided to start playing Omaha. Oh the fail! Poker is so evil, but it’s kind of fun in a way. I guess it’s a good thing I’m not playing on my own money, or rather I made a few bucks with someone’s lent money which I’ve paid back already. Mhm.
Ok, it’s NBA time, I hope the Celtics win. (What a rare hope from me eh?)

Ahh polymer chem midterm and homework incoming… gotta get to that stuff. I’m hoping homework won’t take too long today, so I’m just gonna poker for a couple hours first then get my ass down to working.
I’m running pretty hot right now in poker, winning mass hands. Almost at 300, go me!

Bah got my ochem midterm back. I’m not disappointed with the score I got, but I’m quite disappointed with the way I got that score. Stupid mistakes and some strange grading combined for some pretty newbish fails. I could easily have gone up 15 or 20 pts on the test. Boohoo. I’m never gonna get over the fact that I can’t write “R” to replace a group. Wtf is -5 for that?
I can’t believe spring break is incoming, that’s pretty darn soon. I’m gonna spend that whole break studying I guess. Maybe go to work a couple times.
I really want a bigger desk. I don’t have too much stress free time.. maybe during the summer I’ll do something about it. But as of right now this desk is definitely way too small. A large L or U desk is more my style.
I’m still doing okay at omaha, I think I leak pretty hard with poor position playing.. Once I adjust my vpip and pfr to be slightly more aggro I should be ok. PTO and pokerev claim that I’m running super lucky, but… I definitely don’t feel that way. I mean, I get my money in good but … that’s it? I guess by lucky they mean that I usually win those hands, which is definitely quite true.
I’m pretty tired. Time to read some gre then sleep.
Sundays are awesome. There’s always a triple header of NBA, and it’s the only day I can actually sleep in without consequence.
I’m writing a lab report right now. It’s supposed to be done in ACS style and everything, but… it just doesn’t click in my mind. What I’m trying to say is, usually when you write one of these things you’re reporting some novel and amazing and you can blab on and on about it and how you proved it etc. When you’re writing a lab report for class, 99% of the time what you’ve done has already been accomplished by someone else. I’m polishing up my introduction and it sounds extremely strange to be saying something like…
Although the cross-coupling of XX and XX has been reported, the availability of the indene has been limited by manpower. Hence, the synthesis of additional intermediates is highly desirable.
But in reality I made like, 1 gram of the various intermediates when the person actually doing this lab could just run a 100 g scale reaction and not have to deal with us undergrads failing. Well I know the purpose is to give us students something to do… it’s just harder to write about it. I guess I’m going to just go into mechanistic analysis since that’s part of our requirements. They gave us a 10 page maximum limit, and I’m having trouble filling up more than 1/3 of a page. Lol! And that 10 page limit wasn’t even including figures, aka wtf? I’ll just draw tons of ownage figures of cyclizations.
I’m currently playing the $11 200k gtd. Hope it doesn’t suck too much of my attention away. I’ve been on a hot streak kinda, I burned my FPP on some satellites and won 33 $T, then I used that $T on $3 turbo SNGs and came out with $45. Broke $200 again, and I’m not gonna retardedly moving up stakes and go back below $200.
I’m pretty hungry, but I won’t worry about that. The other folks are at Costco. I slept through their attempts to get me to go. I needed that sleep. Anyhow, time to brainstorm on how to make this report sound intelligent.

I did okay on ochem midterm. Should probably have slaughtered that test but.. meh good enough.
Finished majority of paper editing, I’m guessing submission this weekend and then.. we’ll see. I made a kickass cover photo in a few seconds; who knew I was so good at photoshoppping? I hope we make cover article with my super ridiculous picture…
I got sick and recovered relatively quickly. I’m glad.
I missed a class for the first time this semester today, I just didn’t really feel like going. Instead I played some PLO10 and made about 5 buyins in an hour. Oh if only I could keep that up for all eternity ;).

Got my Chem 150 midterm back today. Let’s just say I was not very confident walking out of the room, and I was even less confident after reading the answer key. But… I apparently got an above average score. I was honestly expecting a 40 ish but ended up with an 82.
Took an ochem midterm today, it was alright. Could have been much worse, I did ok. We’ll see how I did relatively though…

The rain is back. Again.
Went to UCLA Cal bball game yesterday. It was a good game. Got to see collison own face. It looks like he can be a legit backup PG; has the length to be annoying on defense a madly huge driving ability. But I have huge qualms with the… intentional foul rule. Theo slightly touched the guy going to the basket, he gets the layup, 2 free thrwos, ball back and they make a 3. Yay for 7 pt possessions!
Also some guy tried to intimidate me / pick a fight with me. I was standing in the student section innocently and he like, tried to steal a seat amongst us. Then we told him to scram and he kept staying and like leaning super far back directly into us. Then he started getting all angry when the security guy tried to get him to leave. And I was like, yea please I don’t have any space here. And then he just turned around and was like.. “what the fuck did you just say?” The security tried to get him away and the guy started backing down the steps just staring at me and I was like, okay wtf, so I started yelling at him like.. “what are you staring at, hurry up and leave”. So he walks directly back up to me right next to me and starts saying like, “that’s not cool what you just did” me: “uh I need some space and despite our repeated requests you wouldn’t even give us that. We wouldn’t care if you just stood a bit further away.” and he just kept giving crap about “that’s not cool” “what the fuck” and the security guy came back and escorted him out. -_-.
Anyhow, grassbug’s game tonight. Hope we don’t suck.
Oh and an ochem midterm on Tuesday.. I think I’ll be okay for that. We’ll see.
